I listened to a podcast today about Roads that don't exist—the non-personal stuff starts about seven minutes in—and it seems extremely RoL-ish. The London Ringways were a whole series of roads that were planned, that were dropped in the face of community activism, but that left weird effects on London architecture: a six-story building that was designed to block traffic noise, so it only has tiny windows on the side that was supposed to face the motorway; a building that is at a 30-degree angle to everything around it, aligned with a road that wasn't built; and a miserable park that sits smack between two motorways because it was leftover land and they didn't know what else to do with it.
The whole time I could just imagine Peter discoursing about it at length upon visiting one of these sites, so if it amuses (or is useful to) you, please enjoy.
