new fan, here

[ETA: Ahhh, I just saw that I should have posted this to the introduction thread. Well, I will copy it there, if that's okay?]
I just started reading/listening to the Rivers of London series - got here through a crossover Hot Fuzz fanfic, of all things - and am totally hooked. And let me just say, I have never been a huge fan of audio books before, but Holdbrook-Smith is really good! I love how he does all the different voices, so I rarely am confused about who is speaking.
So, help a newbie get oriented - I normally don't mind about spoilering myself on things, but I'm going to try to be a little careful on this series. I've only read the first three books. Should I go back to the beginning of time and read all the posts on this group in calendar order? Or are posts tagged for what book they're about? On the tags list I see only 'broken homes' and 'foxglove summer,' neither of which I have got to yet, but maybe I'm not accessing the whole list...?
After having seen this series mentioned as worth reading for a couple of years, I feel rather stupid to have waited until now to pick it up.
Um, I don't know what matters about me. I've always been a huge fan of m/m slash romantic fanfic, and am female and bi/pansexual and polyamorous, though now that I'm getting old I'm getting more asexualish, I guess. So if you have recommendations for fanfic that fixes plot-holes bring them on! :) M/m and poly content is great, and longer fanfic is always appreciated. Other fandoms I've been around include Master and Commander, Dr. Who, Red Dwarf, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes in every incarnation, and lately Hot Fuzz, to name just a few. But clearly I don't mind reading crossovers with fandoms I'm completely unfamiliar with. ;)
